MV South Siam 3 Liveaboard

General:

The MV South Siam 3 is a 30-metre (98ft) twin engine, wooden hull motor boat, with the standard, but necessary safety standards onboard; she operates in the Andaman Sea all year round. This vessel was built in the year 2005 and comfortably holds 28-guests.

Destination:

MV South Siam 3 offers trips from mid October to mid May to the amazing Similan Islands – Koh Bon Island; this boat operates around the Similan Islands every day, except Wednesday and Sunday where it moves up a little north to Koh Bon Islands.

There are no fixed schedules since the boat stays in the Similan Islands for the season unlike other liveaboard boats that travel from and to Phuket on fixed schedules. New guests get transferred to the liveaboard boats by minibus and speedboat every day of the week, leaving Phuket at around 6:00 - 6:30 depending on which hotel you are staying with. You can therefore go any day you want!

The boat departs from Tapla Mu pier just a little north of Phuket Island and you can choose from single daytrips; to 2-3-4-5….up to 10 days….this is completely up to you! See the schedule.

The Cabins:

The double bed Cabins are all located on the main deck at the very front. The Standard Cabins are found both on the main deck and lower deck and are spacious, not huge but still offer plenty of room.

There are 2-different categories of cabins with a total of 14-cabins, all share bathrooms with hot water showers and centrally controlled air-conditioning adjusted by the crew. The cabins located on the main deck have panoramic views.

All cabins also have:

• Wardrobes to store your clothes during the trip.
• 90 X 200 cm beds incl. bedding
• Twin-prong socket 220 volts mains outlet - 24 hours per day.

The Interior:

The saloon onboard MV South Siam 3 is very comfortable with large panoramic windows and TV/DVD/music entertainment centre, a full selection of marine life books & diving magazines. There is also a shaded outside deck area (dining area) with outside seating. Upstairs, there's plenty of room for sun worshippers on the large 60-sqm sundeck.

The MV South Siam 3 liveaboard is a very large boat with plenty of space to chill out between the dives, whether you want to suntan, read a book, or watch some of the latest premiere movies in the saloon.

The dive deck:

MV South Siam 3 has a large dive platform, it consists of a very wide and spacious kitting-up area and a separate entry/exit platform with 2-exit ladders and 2-fresh water showers to rinse yourself or your equipment after the dives. You will also find 2 large buckets with fresh water for rinsing cameras, dive computers and torches.

MV South Siam 3 has an excellent air station with 3-compressors and the tanks are all refilled in the racks without removing your gear. Once the equipment has been put together on the first day, one can relax for the entire trip as the tanks will be refilled again and again by the friendly staff onboard.

For divers without their own dive computers, Suunto Dive Computers are available for rent on the boat. This is optional, but it is strongly recommended to rent one of these for your own safety. The dive staff will explain very thoroughly how these work before the diving begins.

For more information about MV South Siam 3, see the technical details below .

Diving courses onboard:

There is a wide range of PADI courses available onboard MV South Siam 3, so if you want to gain some extra diving knowledge, the staff are able to teach everything from Advanced Open Water Diver, to Deep, Peak Performance Buoyancy and Multilevel specialties. See the price list below .

Food & drinks:

The Cook onboard is excellent; he can cook everything from traditional Western food to the more spicy Thai dishes. Fresh seasonal fruits and snacks are also served every day.

• Mixed Thai/Western dinner, Thai lunch and American breakfast.
• Buffet-style service on top deck - choose from at least four main dishes with rice and salad.
• All dietary requirements can be catered for - please send us your requirements.
• Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, sweets, snacks and biscuits are provided free of charge.
• Soft drinks (free), beer (US$ 1.30) are available.

The dive crew:

The experienced staff onboard are all professional multilingual PADI Divemasters & Instructors and most worked several seasons here around the area of the Similan Islands – Koh Bon. We recommend that you dive with one of the onboard dive staff, since they know all the points of interest and how to navigate the dive sites to ensure the best dive profile. There is always a dive guide available for you, but if you are an experienced diver and just want to have a dive site briefing, then you and your buddy can go on your own but you will of course have to follow some simple diving rules and instructions given by the dive staff, to ensure your safety.

The boat crew

The boat crew onboard is experienced and very helpful, they speak a little English, certainly enough to understand when things are serious or when it's time for jokes, and you don't have to ask for help, they know exactly when it's needed.

Note:

We can not take responsibility for schedule or itinerary changes due to natural disasters, political situations, changing weather or other events beyond our control. You should hold or purchase travel insurance which should cover you anywhere in the world, and if it doesn't cover diving activities, then we recommend that you have DAN or other diving accident insurance up to date. Please check this in case of an unexpected evacuation or other treatment that may not be covered by your regular. Insurance.
